Energy & Wind Turbines for Farms
KW15 wind turbine achieves Class 1 certification!
A simple and affordable wind turbine for farms, landowners and businesses can now be taken advantage of with the latest addition to the Kingspan Wind product portfolio following the successful independent testing and certification of the new KW15 wind turbine.
The KW15 has become the first UK-designed small wind turbine to achieve Class 1 certification – the highest rating possible for small wind turbine systems.
Kingspan Wind General Manager, Richard Caldow commented: “Available for single phase, split and three phase connections, the KW15 offers landowners, farmers and businesses a simple, affordable renewable energy source backed with a comprehensive warranty from a globally recognised company”.
MCS approved and eligible for Feed-in Tariffs, ROC’s and regional incentives, the KW15 incorporates four levels of rotor speed control to ensure that the turbine operates responsibly in all wind conditions for a wind turbine farm.
Louisa Coursey, Small & Medium Wind Development Manager at RenewableUK, commented: “Renewable UK is delighted that Kingspan have achieved MCS accreditation for their 15kW wind turbine. The accreditation procedure is a robust mechanism providing consumer confidence within the small wind turbine industry, and we are pleased that another model has been made available to this unique market.”
Stephanie Clark, Policy Manager at Scottish Renewables, said: “The KW15 is a great addition to the options available for those considering smaller wind developments. Kingspan has a strong and innovative track record in small wind and its commitment to renewable energy is providing jobs and supporting economic growth in Scotland.”
Working in conjunction with our Accredited Installer network, we can provide free site qualification and full project feasibility as well as bespoke packages and wind turbines for farms, landowners and other potential customers nationwide.
KW15 Features & Benefits
Fully MCS approved and eligible for Feed-in Tariffs, ROC’s and regional incentives
Certified to Class 1 wind speeds, ensuring durability in high winds whilst offering customer’s peace of mind in their investment.
Simple Grid Connection: Available for single phase, split phase and three phase connections as well as off-grid solutions, the KW15 can be connected on any configuration which is an added benefit to rural customers often with limitations to the size of wind turbine they can connect at their property.
Low Visual Impact: Visual impact is minimised in the surrounding locality due to the KW15’s modern aesthetic design and colour, with the light grey RAL7035 as the standard colour option. This was selected following consultation with Environmental Health Officers and Planners to help aid the planning application and approval process.
Low Cost of Ownership: The KW15 is installed and serviced at ground level, therefore, does not require expensive cranes due to its standard hydraulic mast solution. This allows for more efficient annual service inspections by minimising downtime.
Return on Investment: Like all of our turbine systems, the KW15 does not require to be shut down in high winds; this is due to its unique downwind design. With Class 1 approval, the KW15 offers customers peace of mind in periods of high winds when alternative wind turbines need to switch themselves off, this allows owners to maximise the profitability and benefit from their KW15 in all seasons.
Fully Integrated Control System: Simple and cost-effective installation.
Electro-mechanical Fail Safe Braking: Fail-safe electro-mechanical braking mechanism (monitored and controlled by the inverter, offers additional risk mitigation.
Intelligent Turbine Control System: The KW15 incorporates four levels of rotor speed control to ensure that the turbine operates responsibly in all wind conditions
